Our Self Build Porch Designs

We can offer customers across the UK a range of different wooden porch kit designs, each of which we’ll have delivered for you to start building as soon as the work has been signed off (within 6 to 8 weeks of completion):

These products all come in either Douglas-fir or green oak frame, and are all gable roof designs as standard. We are also able to craft lean-to and hip roof porch designs if you need a porch roof that offers more cover and protection from the elements.

Our Bespoke Options for Porch Kits

Many customers come to us with design ideas already in mind for their own DIY porches, and we’re always ready to help make these ideas come to life. If you have plans for a bespoke porch that you would like to build yourself but need a team of experts to craft the frames, get in touch with us. We’ll take every specification you have into account to make sure the design you’ve talked through with us is reflected in the porch kit you get at the end of our work.

Do Porches Need Planning Permission?

In most cases, you should find that our porch kits won’t require planning permission. This is because they fall within the terms of permitted development. However, there may be some exceptions to the rule if you choose a larger porch design, in which case you may need to be prepared to make an application to your local building authority.
To find out more about the general rules and regulations around planning permission and porches, please see our advice page. For more specific information about your local area, you will need to contact your local council. They will be able to tell you more about rules that may only apply where you live.

Priming Self Build Porch Kits for an Easy Assembly

All of our porch kits are manufactured using a series of traditional jointing techniques that we consistently use as part of our work practices. We keep to these techniques because they allow for the cut frames to slot neatly together during the installation. This means that any purchaser with some previous DIY or home improvement experience should find our products quick and easy to build and put in place on their property.

To help you with your self build porch project, we’ll always include an easy-to-follow instruction manual in your kit’s pack. Planning drawings will also be made available upon request.

Our Product Builder.

Our gallery is stocked with pictures of porches we’ve crafted for customers across the UK and the Channel Islands, so you can see what any potential design you choose will look like once you’ve put it together. By taking a look at the images here, you might even be inspired to add something to the design you’ve planned out for your own self build porch kit.

There is also a chance that you’ll come across a design that’s almost exactly what you’re looking for for your property, but notice that it needs a few amendments before you decide to hang it over your front door. When this happens, you’ll find our product builder ready and waiting to help. This completely free online tool is available on all of our product pages, so you can mix and match different styles from each of our designs to find the one that you want a quote for.

Why Choose Us for Self Build Porch Kits in the UK?

We’re proud of the high quality product kits that we provide to our customers, and there are many reasons homeowners and contractors alike make us their first choice for timber framed porch designs:

Our Sustainably Sourced Products: Our porch kits are crafted from the finest green oak or Douglas-fir timber we have available to us. This is all taken from a specially designated site in France, and three saplings will always be planted in the place of every tree used in our manufacturing process to keep the work sustainable.
We Minimise Waste: The trees we use are all cultivated to be as tall, straight, and strong as possible, so more of the wood can be cut and crafted into our kits. As a result, there is less waste left over at the end of the work.
We Carry Out Expert Timber Grading: When the wood is brought to our workshops, it will be professionally graded by our fully qualified team. They’ll inspect each piece carefully for flaws, faults, or other weaknesses that could affect the structural integrity of a kit so that only the strongest pieces are saved for our work.
Our Precision Manufacturing: All of our work is aided by the most effective and efficient machinery for the job, whether that’s scanning for micro-cracks that the human eye would miss, or tools that ensure precision accuracy when cutting frames. All of this rules out human error and guarantees you a perfectly made porch kit.
Our Q-Mark Certified Process: We follow a series of guidelines and standards set out by BM TRADA, one of the best-regarded and strictest certification panels in the UK. This means you can always feel confident in knowing your own self-build porch kit has been made to industry standards and nothing less.

We supply a wide range of porch styles all across the UK.

Our Prices

All of our porch kits are individually priced, depending on what a customer wants to see in the design they’ve built once they’re finished, or what they want to use the space created for. To give an example, you can expect a small front porch canopy that’s purely for decoration to cost less than a large lean-to porch that will provide the perfect cover for seating, or act as a storage area for bikes and other items.

We understand that this could impact on your budget, so we will work closely with you to calculate the cost of any features you want to see in your finished installation. This means you’ll only ever pay for the design elements you’ve chosen, making the price as unique as your porch will be once you’ve put it together.

We are also happy to say that we are a price competitive firm, so if you should find an online service that provides porch kits of a similar quality but at a cheaper price, let us know. We’ll do everything we can to match or beat the price they’ve offered.
