Will a Bungalow Porch Require Planning Permission?

Whether or not a porch needs planning permission all depends on the size. If your porch is over a certain number of square metres in floor area, or over a certain number of metres in height, it’s highly likely that your porch will need planning permission. This is because it will then be considered an extension in its own right, rather than permitted development. As such, if you choose to build a small wrap around porch for your bungalow rather than a porch which only covers your back or front door, then you’re more likely to need permission from your local authority.
